Russell C. Bass, Sr., 87
Russell Cooper Bass, Sr., of Danbury, died Monday, Dec. 28, at his home. He was 87.
He was the husband of the late Edwina Christine (Brundage) Bass. He was born in Windham, Dec. 9, 1922, son of the late George R. and Bessie M. (Cooper) Bass.
Previously of South Norwalk and Wilton, he attended Wilton Center School, Westport Junior High, and Staples High School.
He served in the Army during World War II and worked as a machine operator for 45 years at Gilbert & Bennett, until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the New Fairfield Congregational Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 60.
He is survived by his brothers, Orin E. Bass and his wife, Katherine of Danbury, Charles E. Bass of Southington, Kenneth J. Bass and his wife, Dorothy of Danbury; sister, Bessie M. Morabito and her husband, Peter of Danbury; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Russell C. Bass, Jr.; and brothers, George, Clifford, Mervin and Edward Bass.
The funeral will be held at the New Fairfield Congregational Church, New Fairfield, Thursday at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow in Pembroke Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
