Rev. Smith
Funeral rites will be held at 1 o?clock today in the Northfork Presbyterian church for Rev. Ralph A. Smith, 61, of Roanoke, Va., who died in a local hospital Friday morning from the effects of a paralytic stroke shortly after noon Thursday as he drove his car along U.S. route 52 near Premier.
The services will be in charge of Dr. Spence Edmunds of Roanoke, Va., and Rev. N.B. Curry of Northfork. Burial will take place in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery at Groseelose, Va.
The Rev. Mr. Smith had been a minister for 25 years. He was born January 17, 1878 in Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Andrew Smith. He spent his early life in Indiana and Ohio and attended the Bonebrake Theological Seminary and Central university in Indiana.
His first marriage was in 1900 to Miss effie Bernice Stuart. To this union two daughters were born: Mrs. R.H. Linkart of Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. E.S> Rhodes of Burlington, N.C. His first wife died a number of years ago. His second marriage was on August 1, 1933, to Mrs. Jessica Bassett Grubb, formerly of Northfork. She is a sister of Mrs. George Smith of Keystone and C.L. Bassett of Northfork.
Active pallbearers will be C.H. Wright, S.E. Moore, C.R. Khun, O.H. Madira, W.E. Doss, and Tom E. Callaway.
