The Wakefield Funeral
Young Man Buried Today Was One of Much Promise
The funeral of Faron N. Wakefield of Port Chester, N.Y. was held this afternoon at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Lovina F. Baldwin and his aunt, Mrs. Henry H. Fell, 11 Sherman street. Although not known to many in this city, he had, nevertheless made a number of friends and acquaintances among the young people during a visit here a few years ago at the home of his uncle, C.F. Baldwin, who will be interested in the following extract from the Port Chester papers:
“The first intimation the family had of his decline was September 1, when a consultation was had with the most competent medical aid obtainable. Last Thursday, as able physician warned the family that the disease and had made such rapid progress that death might be expected at any time. Sunday it came, and with it ended the career of one of the brightest and most accomplished students that Port Chester had nurtured.
“Mr. Wakefield was a graduate of Yale university, 1906, and during his course was the recipient of the second and third Lucius F. Robinson Latin prizes and during his junior and senior years held the Robert Callendar scholarship. He was also a popular fraternity man, serving as secretary for Phi Beta Kappa during his junior and senior years.
“He entered Harvard Law school in the fall of 1907 and was about to return for his senior years with bright prospects for a successful career.
“He is survived by his father and mother and one sister, to whom his sudden death comes as crushing blow.”
