Christopher Bassett, aged 19 of Randwick, Height 5 feet 7 inches, Hair Light Brown, Eyes Grey, Long visage, Fresh complexion, scar on top of nose, slight impediment in speech. Occupation: farm labourer and bone and offal collector. Native of Randwick, Father deals in pigs. Mother goes out selling cotton thread and tape. Sister goes out selling salt to farm houses. Charged on the oath of James Cook and others with feloniously stealing at Kings Stanley on 9 Feb 1847 one pair tongs, one scraping hook, two candlesticks and other items the property of Susannah Cook. Found guilty and given three calendar months hard labour in house of correction at Lawford Gate.
She was 27, he was 26 at the time of their marriage.
