George Randall II 'Randy' Bassett
Bassett, George Randall II 'Randy', 54, 310 N. Depot St., Altona, Illinois, died 12:30 a.m. Thursday (1-31-02), in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois; he was born July 31, 1947, in Sandoval, Illinois, to George Randall and Bernita Carter Bassett; he married Dawn McRae-Bassett-McLean in 1971, in St. Louis, Missouri (divorced); he later married Patricia Hook on November 3, 2001, in Altoona, Illinois, she survives. Surviving is his mother, Bernita Organ in Sandoval, Illinois; three sons, Randy Bassett in Chicago, Illinois, David Andrew Bassett in St. Louis, Missouri and Anthony Voorhees at home; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Gretchen) Hazen in Altoona, Illinois and Mrs. Dan (Shelby) Attaway in Galesburg, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Eugene (Nancy) Naleajka in Sandoval, Illinois; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins; he was preceded in death by his father and one son, Daniel Aubuchon in 1999. He served in the Army. He worked as a correctional officer for the State of Illinois Department of Corrections, at the Centralia Prison in Centralia, Illinois, for thirteen years. He was currently working. He graduated from Sandoval High School in Sandoval, Illinois, in 1969. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a Shriner. He lived in Salem, Illinois before moving to Altona, Illinois months ago. Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Monday (2-4-02), at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with Reverend Timothy Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Sunday (2-3-02) at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
