Mrs. Velma Bassett
Mrs. Velma Bassett, widow of the late Fred L. Bassett of 7 Orchard Street, aged 73, died Sunday Morning at 2:40 o'clock after and illness of 5 months. Cerebral hemorrhage was the cause of her death.
Mrs. Bassett was well known in this place where she had lived many years.
She was born in West Greenwood, New York, June 26, 1862.
She has spent her entire life in this vicinity. She was a devout member of the First Presbyterian church in Canisteo and a member at the Greenwood street tens.
On Jan. 6, 1881, she was married to Fred L. Bassett of Alfred. He died Jan. 9, 1920.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. W. A. Clark of Buffalo; twin sons Ray Bassett and Earl Bassett of Bennetts Creek; 3 brothers, George Krusen, Dan Krusen, and Fred Krusen, all of Greenwood; 6 grandchildren; Mrs. Ruth Haldwell and Virginia Clark of Buffalo, Doris and Joan Bassett, Cora Bassett and Carroll Bassett of Bennetts Creek and 1 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held from her home in 7 Orchard street Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock Rev. Harry L. Sonners officiated.
Burial was made in Bennetts Creek Cemetery.
Pall bearers were: Richard Thatcher, William M. Stuart E. M. Childs, R. B. Miller Sr., J. R. Miller and George Crozier.
