Theresa Bessette
WATERTOWN - Theresa (Gelinas) Bessette, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, June 12, 2022. She was the beloved wife to the late Robert Bessette for 74 years.
Theresa was born in Quebec, Canada, on Aug. 31, 1927, to the late Lucien and Diana (Langlois) Gelinas. Theresa held a variety of factory positions at the Princeton Knitting Mills (Waterbury), Uniroyal (Naugatuck), and Scovill in Watertown.
Theresa will be missed by her daughter, Diana (Bessette) Kenney and her husband Timothy Kenney; her two sons, David Bessette and his wife Lisa (Sciortino) Bessette, and Dennis Bessette.
She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Lori (Kenney) Kooger and her husband Albert Kooger, Timothy Kenney Jr., Kristi (Bessette) D'Andrea and her husband Douglas D'Andrea, Ryan Bessette and his wife Kristin (Sirois) Bessette, Collin Bessette and his wife Tania (Eicoff) Bessette, and Stephen Bessette and his wife Cait (DiBona) Bessette; seven great-grand children, Brooklyn D'Andrea, Paige Kenney, Haley Kooger, Emily Kooger, Ryan T. Bessette, Brayden Bessette and Ashton Bessette; a predeceased sister, Rita Rousseau Sciortino; and many other extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Theresa at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South in Southbury. A visitation will be immediately before the Mass in the daily chapel of the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
