Paul W. Bassett Sr.
MATHEWS - Paul W. Bassett Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Mathews who retired from the C&O railroad, died Wednesday, February 16. Mr. Bassett was a member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek, and Oriental Masonic Lodge 20. Survived by a son, Paul W. Bassett Jr. of Gwynn; a step-daughter, Lavalle Wilson of Hayes; two sisters, Hazel Buchanan of Cobbs Creek and Bernice Pineanult of Sandstone; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation from 7 to 8 tonight at Foster-Faulkner Funeral home. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert Justis. Burial in Haynes Cemetery, Cobbs Creek. Memorial to a favorite charity.
