  Notes	Sir William Basset married the daughter and heiress of Sir John de Lisieux of Fledborough, Nottinghamshire. By this marriage he acquired the manor of Fledborough which remained in the possession of his descendants until the reign of Charles I. Upon the outbreak of civil war, his grandson Richard Basset, (who had inherited the family estates after his father's (Robert Basset) death in 1635), joined the Royalist cause which led to the confiscation of the estate to the Crown.
