Marion E. Cushing, New London
NEW LONDON – Marion E. Cushing, 73, of County Road, died Monday at the Clough Center. She was born in Grafton, the daughter of John and Marion (Carter) Bassett. She lived in the Grafton-Danbury area all of her life before moving to New London six years ago. She worked as a caregiver and certified nurse’s assistant at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen and at the Clough Center in New London. Cushing attended Danbury Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Richard Cushing of Danbury; three daughters, Linda Ford of Danbury, Shirley Hill of Grafton and Ruth Cusing of Springfield; two brothers, John Bassett of Grafton and Russell Bassett of Spokane, Wash.; her stepmother, Elisie Bassett of Rumney; a half-brother, Donald Bliss; three half-sisters, Jean Humphries, Jean Ogrodnik and Janice Faulkner; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and nieces, newphews and cousins. Her husband, Herbert Cushing, died in 1988; and a brother, Wesley Bassett, died previously. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chadwick Funeral Services, 174 Main St., New London. Graveside services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Riverdale Cemetery in Danbury. The Rev. Charles Hibbard, pastor of Danbury Christian Church, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, 66 Hanover St., Suite 101, Manchester 03101-2230.
