Heart Attack Claims Overton Ewing Bass
Widely Known Charlotte Road Citizen Dies Suddenly
Overton Ewing Bass, 72, widely known and respected citizen of the Charlotte Road section, died of a heart attach at his home six miles from Nashville early Saturday night.
Mr. Bass? health had not been good for the past two years, but he had gone about his usual duties Saturday and his death came as a distinct shock.
Although he had never held public office Mr. Bass had served on numerous county juries and commissions. He was active in the the civic and business affairs of his community and was known for his neighborliness. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was born at Old Hickory, colonial home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W..J. Bass on Charlotte Road. His father was killed on the front lawn of the place by Northern soldiers during the Civil War.
The last of five brothers, Mr. Bass is survved by his wife, Mrs. Mollie Hooper Bass, and adopted son, Paul, three grandchildren; two nephews, Will and Jack Bass and a nice, Mrs. Louise Lupton of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be held Monday.
