Bessette Joseph Omer Bessette, 66, of 14 Longviev St., Springfield, native of Winooski, Vt., died Wednesday in Baystate Medical Center, Wesson Unit. He lived in Springfield 27 years, and was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He retired last year as a receiver for Croust-Hinds Co. Arrow-Hart Division, Electrical Switch Manufacturers, Hartford, Conn. Besides his wife, the former Elaine H. Terry, he leaves two sons, Robert Martin of Underhill, Vt., and Preston Dubuque of Westfield; two daughters, Marlene Shappy of Grand Isle, Vt., and Kathy Garmen of Fall River; five brothers, Paul of Newfane Vt., Edward of Milton, Vt., Norman of Winooski, Richard of Burlington, Vt., and Roger of Montreal; a sister Mary Jolin of Montreal; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday morning at LaVigne Funeral home, 132 Main St., and in St. Joseph’s Church, both of Winooski, with burial in Grand Isle Cemetery, Grand Isle. Byron’s Funeral Home is in charge locally.
