  Notes	Post.Star.com, January 20, 2013 George Joseph Bessette Sr. (Picture included) TICONDEROGA — George Joseph Bessette Sr., 83, of Ticonderoga, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare of Ticonderoga, where he has been a resident for the past 15 years. Born in Pottersville, Feb. 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Beatrice (Bennett) Bessette. George was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the N.Y. National Guard. He was employed as a baker for his father at Marko’s Bakery of Ticonderoga, for many years. He was also employed as a blacktopper for Dean Dolbeck of Ticonderoga, for more than 30 years. After his retirement, he was employed as a groundskeeper for Roger’s Rock Campsite. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Mary L. Bessette, on Sept. 11, 2012. He was also predeceased by three children, Thomas Lloyd Bessette, Penny Sue Bessette and Darlene Marie Bessette. Survivors include two sons, George J. Bessette Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Putnam Station, and William F. Bessette and his wife, Jackie, of Ticonderoga; one sister, Grace May Smith and her husband, Kenneth, of Putnam Station; and one brother, John Bessette of Michigan. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Skip Trembley, pastor of Hague Wesleyan Church, will officiate. Interment will take place in the spring at the family plot of St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Heritage Commons Activities Department, 1019 Wicker St., Ticonderoga, NY 12883.
