George E. Bassett
ELKHART ? Services for George E. Bassett, 65, of 1505 Locust Ave., who died Wednesday afternoon in the Cleveland (Ohio) Clinic, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Rev. Margaret Balcom, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Crippled Children?s Hospital.
Bassett was born on Sept. 5, 1911, in Elkhart. On April 15, 1939, he married the former Emmanell Mapstone in Elkhart. She survives along with two sisters, Miss Helen Bassett of Minneapolis and Mrs. Mary Harris of Chagrin falls, Ohio, and a brother, Daniel of Coronado, Calif. He had retired from the Transport Motor Freight Co. of Fort Wayne. he was a member of the Elkhart Elks Club and the Wolverine Lodge, Ancient Free & Accepted Mason.
