Kathleen S. Bassett
GREENFIELD -- Kathleen S. (Scannell) Bassett, 94, of Spruce Street, died Sunday (5-15-11) at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility.
She was born in Greenfield on March 16, 1917, the daughter of Timothy and Bridget (Dempsey) Scannell. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1935 and was a graduate of Becker College in Worcester. She had been a lifelong resident of Greenfield.
Kathleen was a teller for the former First National Bank for many years, retiring in 1976. Previously, she was employed by the Greenfield Tap and Die Corp.
She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.
Kathleen was a member of the pink ladies at Franklin Medical Center.
Her husband of 64 years, Harold R. Bassett, predeceased her on Sept. 5, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas and his wife Sandy of Spokane, Wash., and their children, Patricia and Sarah, and Timothy and his wife Marcia of Easthampton and their children, Patrick and Meagan, and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Elana and Vicki who lovingly cared for Kathleen the past several years.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main St., with the Rev. Tomasz Gorny, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
A calling hour will be Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St.
