Daisy D. Bassett, 86
AUBURN - Daisy D. (Paine) Bassett, 86, of 34 Woodland Road, died Friday in Sandalwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Oxford, after an illness. Her husband, Millard R. Bassett, died in 1997. She leaves two daughters, Jane E. Phillips of Auburn and Judith E. Supernor of Springhille, Fla.; three sisters, Avis Richardson of Framingham, Olive Leamy of Newport Richie, Fla. and Cassie MacKenzie of Greenfield; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Guilford, Vt., daughter of Sidney L. and Daisy D. (Bassett) Paine, and moved here more than 60 years ago. She graduated from Greenfield High School, Greenfield. Mrs. Bassett was a member for more than 50 years and former deaconess of Hadwen Park Congregational Church, Worcester. She also was a member of the 2 and 1 Club and the Woman's Fellowship at the church. She was a member of Pakachaog Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star and also volunteered for many years at Worcester City Hospital Crippled Children Clinic. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hadwen Park Congregational Church, 6 Clover St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn, is directing arrangements.
