Donna Bassett
Northfield, MA - Donna Lee Bassett (Glazier) 84, of Northfield, MA, died Tuesday (8-22-2023) at her home that morning as Roger held her hand. She was born to Clayton and Abby (French) Glazier on Aug. 23, 1938 and was raised by Rena (Tyler) Glazier and Clayton. Donna is predeceased by a sister Betsy Glazier, a brother Harry Glazier and grandson Jesse Johnson. Donna leaves behind her sister Ella Snow of Bernardston, a sister-in-law Margaret Glazier of Northfield, and an aunt Ann Glazier of New York State. She also leaves her only grandson Zachary Johnson of Kremling, Colorado and her favorite son-in-law Charles "Butch" Ritchey of Lake Hartwell, GA. and many beloved neices and nephews.
Donna graduated from Northfield High School and worked at the Northfield Drug Store and at the East Northfield Bookstore prior to her 66 year marriage to Roger E. Bassett on July 10, 1957. She raised four children, Lynn of Greenfield, Cynthia of Georgia, Henry of California, and Joseph of New York State. She worked as a supervisor in the napkin department at Erving Paper Mill for over 17 years. She loved to collect cookie jars, vacaton at Sebago Lake, Maine, sew many quilts, she travelled across the country on a bus with Roger, and spent many hours tending to her beautiful flower gardens.
Our family wishes to thank all of our wonderful family and friends who assisted us during these past few years to help keep Donna and Roger cared for and supported. We sincerely wish to thank our wonderful PCA's both Carole and Lori who both cared for our Mom as their own, and the many LifePath and Pioneer Hospice staffing (Jackie and Sharon) who shared their compassion every day.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
