Youth Given One Week Sentence
Admitted to Taking money From Store While The Clerk Was Outside
Orson A. Bassett of Osmond was placed under arrest last Wednesday charged with taking some money from the cash register of the Call Hardware Company. The clerk, Edgar Call, had just stepped outside of the store to get some wood, leaving young Bassett in the store. When he returned the lad was gone but, he left some muddy tracks which were easily traced to the cash register. Upon examination of the contents of the register it was discovered that some money was missing, and as young Bassett was the only person to enter the store he was suspicioned. Orson who is about 16 years of age at first denied all connection with the missing money but later confessed to taking it. He was sentenced by Judge Toland to serve one week in the city jail. he started to serve his sentence at once.
