Mrs. Lucy Cook Dowling, died Thursday morning (February 21, 2008) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a short illness.She was a native of Meriweather County, but she has resided most of her life in Ware County. He was married to her first husband, the late Emmett Cook, and her second husband, the late Charles Dowling.She was a farmer, avid bowler and fisherman. She was a member of Central Baptist, the Merrymakers, and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Ware County Exchange Club and the Waycross Woman's Club.Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Rooks (husband Charles) of Tifton, Sarah Bunch (husband the late Joe) of Waycross; a special sister, Thelma Hendricks Clark of Thomaston, and two addition sisters, Mozell Legion of Juniper, GA and Lois Johnson of South Carolina; a brother, Roy Owens Bassett of Buena Vista; four step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (February 24, 2008) at Central Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Saturday night from 6 until 8.The Ware County Exchange Club is requested to meet at Central Baptist Church Sunday at 1:40 p.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.
