PHILIP H. BESSETTE BURLINGTON/JERICHO - Philip H. Bessette, 48, formerly of Burlington, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010, after a long battle with leukemia at his home in Jericho. He was born in Burlington on March 23, 1961, the son of Ervin, Sr. and Margaret (Miller) Bessette. He was the third generation roofer and ran Bessette Brothers, specializing in roofing and construction. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife, Denise (Blondin) Bessette of Jericho, the mother of his children, Ruth Dandrow of Richmond; three children: Nicole Bessette of Cochester, Michael Bessette of Richmond and Philip "P.D." Dion of Shelburne; three step children: Katie Buchanan of Montpelier, Jake Buchanan of Jericho and Sarah Buchanan of Rochester; three step grandchildren; his father and wife: Ervin, Sr. and Dianne Bessette of Crystal, Fla., his mother: Margaret Miller of St. Albans; one sister: Carol LaRochelle of Enosburgh Falls; five brothers: Ervin Bessette, Jr. of St. Albans, Eugene Bessette of Alburgh, Ernest Bessette of Richford, Richard Bessette of Berkshire and Leo Martin of St. Albans; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Ernest "Pops" and Lena (Lord) Bessette and his mentor, Pete Maynard. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Chapel, 97 Elmwood Ave, Burlington where visitation is from 6 p.m. until the services. A thank you is extended to Dr. Julian Sprague, nurse Angi Hill and nursing staff of P.P.R. and VNA Hospice.
