Mrs. Laura E. Bessette Marks Her 100th Birthday Tomorrow
Mrs. Laura E. Bessette will reach the age tomorrow which many people dream of and few attain. On that date she will be 100 years of age.
Born in Whitehall, July 15, 1860, Mrs. Bessette has resided for more than 50 years in Ticonderoga, where she now makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Bonano at 343 Lake George Avenue.
Mrs. Bessette, the former Laura Belden, was married in 1894 to the late Calais Bessette in Benson, Vt. Mr. Bessette died in 1913. She is one of 10 children, with a brother and sister, both in their 90?s still living. The brother, Cyrus Belden, resides in Fair Haven, Vt., and Mrs. Myrtle Hale, a sister, lives in Benson. Both visited Mrs. Bessette on Sunday.
In addition to making her home here and in Vermont, Mrs. Bessette spent several years in Puerto Rico with Mrs. Bonano and her husband, returning here with them in 1945.
Besides her two daughters, Mrs. Bessette has eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is a life long member of the Methodist Church and is the oldest living member of the First Methodist Church in here.
Although not as active this year as in previous ones, Mrs. Bessette enjoys watching TV and receiving Visitors.
