Linden resident had Army career, loved Yankees
Edward A. "Captain Eddie" Lowrie, 69, of Linden, N.J., passed away peacefully, with the comfort of his family by his side, on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Kindred Hospital, Rahway, N.J.
Visiting is today (Thursday) from 9 to 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, from Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 E. St. Georges Ave., Linden, N.J. 07036, on the Elizabeth city line (908) 352-9190. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Plainfield, N.J.

Born in Plainfield, N.J., Mr. Lowrie lived in Germany and Highlands, N.J., and since 2002 in Linden.
An Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he served his country proudly for 17 years. Edward was an honorary member of the North Plainfield Exempt Firemen's Association.
He was an avid Yankees fan and gifted artist, known for his famous quotes, "with all due respect, I'm humble, meek and discreet" and "let them all talk." Trying out for the New York Mets was a thrilling highlight of his lifetime.
Mr. Lowrie was the loving father of Michael, Margaret Ann and Edward A. Lowrie Jr., all of Germany, children of their mother, Trudy. He was also the beloved brother of Susan J. Noviello of Woodbridge, N.J.; Margaret Lowrie of Linden and Jon Lowrie of Whiting, N.J.; cherished grandfather of several grandchildren, and devoted uncle of 11 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews.
