Harry Bylston Bass
Private graveside services for Harry B. Bass, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Yukon Cemetery. He died Monday in an Oklahoma City nursing home. Street & Draper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Bass, who was first mayor of Yukon, came to Oklahoma in 1899 and opened Bass Mercantile Company in Yukon. He served as mayor 15 years and also served as president of the Yukon Board of Trustees.He founded Bass Furniture Company in Oklahoma City. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, and was a lifetime member of Alpha Tau Omega social fraternity at Ohio Wesleyan College, Delaware, Ohio.Survivors include his wife, Ethelyn; two sons, George W. and Boylston; a daughter, Mrs. Lester H. Blair; a sister, Mrs. Tom Scott, Milford, Ohio, and a brother, George E. Bass, Yukon.
