Hand ? Bassett
Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. Hand of Richmond announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Courtney Lee Hand of Boston, Massachusetts, to Brian Alexander Bassett of Boston, son of Mrs. Robert A. Bassett of South Salem, New York, and the late Mr. Robert A. Bassett.
The bride-to-be graduated from James Madison University and received a master?s degree in arts administration from Boston University. Mr. Bassett is a graduate of James Madison University, also.
A July 2005 wedding is planned.

Bassett ? Hand
The marriage of Miss Courtney Lee Hand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. Hand of Richmond, to Mr. Brian Alexander Bassett, son of Mrs. Robert A. Bassett and the late Mr. Robert A. Bassett, of South Salem, N.Y., took place on July 16, 2005, at Branch?s Baptist Church in Richmond. The Rev. Timothy W. Schwartz officiated.
The bride, escorted by her father, was given in marriage by her parents. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Hand of Richmond and Mrs. Marie H. Foster of Reidsville, N.C., and the late Mr. Kenneth R. Wood, Sr. and the late Mrs. Nancy K. Wood of Danville, Va. The groom is the grandson of Eleanor O?Brien of Cranford, N.J., and the late Mr. Edward W. O?Donnell, and Mrs. Pearl R. Bassett of Melbourne, Fla., and the late Mr. Alexander R. Bassett.
Whitney L. Hand was her sister?s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Christy L. Edwards, Kelly L. Klanian, Rachel A. Immekus, Keir M. Hart, Emily H. Balsh, and Allison A. Lee. Kelly A. Williams was the flower girl.
Mr. Robert S. Bassett was his brother?s best man. Groomsmen were Matthew R. Sadley, Andy S. Burt, Jeffrey M. Clark, Jason S.R. Miyares, Joshua J. Walton and Edward O O?Donnell III, cousin of the groom. Mr. O?Donnell was also a vocalist at the wedding. Braden Alexander and Carter Korb Bassett, nephews of the groom were the ring bearers.
Barry H. James was a vocalist at the wedding, and Ashley B. Huffman played the harp. Wendy H. Dixon, cousin of the groom, was the honor attendant.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom?s mother, was held at Independence Golf Club. The reception was held at Stonehenge Golf & Country Club.
The bride earned a B.A. in dance from James Madison University and an M.A. in arts administration from Boston University. She currently works in the development office at Walnut Hill School in Natick, Mass. The groom earned a B.A. from James Madison University with a major in media arts. He is currently employed as an account development representative for IBM in Westborough, Mass.
Following the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Boston.
