Bassett Sr. left this world peacefully Thursday, April 24, 2014, after a period of declining health. He was born Jan. 11, 1961, to the late Billy James Bassett and Eulene Perry Bassett from Asheville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William A. Bassett, and sister, Ruby Moore. Surviving are sons, Jack C. Bassett Jr. and Chad A. Bassett, of Candler, N.C. ; brother, James Alan Bassett, of Brevard; sister, Billy Ann Bassett, of Brevard; grandchildren, Austin Persa, Devin Bassett and Lawson Bassett, of Candler; nieces, Ginny Todd and Christine Burchette, of South Carolina; and several extended family members whom he loved dearly. The memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Hominy Baptist Church, 135 Candler School Road, in Candler, led by Rev. Mike Pressley and Rev. Joe Yelton.
