John L. Bass, 54, Business Teacher At Maryland U.
John L. Bass, 54, an instructor in the business administration department at the University of Maryland, died yesterday of a heart attack at his home, 23 Second stree, N.E.
He had been an instructor in the university?s business department for the last year and a half. Before that had worked with the university?s college program in Europe.
A native Grayson County, Tex., Mr. Bass was graduated from high school in Walters, Okla. He received his bachelor of arts degree from George Washington University in 1933.
He was awarded his masterh?s degree from the University of Virginia in 1938, then taught at the University of North Carolina and at Howard College, Birmingham, Ala. He also managed the Chamber of Commerce in Charlottesville, Va.
A member of the Theta Delta Chi social fraternity, Mr. Bass also was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and the Southern Economic Association. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He leaves his father, Major Bass, and three sisters, Mrs. Jess P. Unger of West Point, N.Y.; Mrs. E.C. Hanson of Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. Neil Brooks, 3215 Morrison street N.W.
Funeral services willb e at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the Hines Funeral Home, 2901 Fourteenth street N.W. Burial will be in Walters.
