  Notes	Gainesville Sun, Florida, 13 May 2010 Arvey Bass Jr. Mr. Arvey Bass Jr, age 66 passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 surrounded by his family at his residence in Bell after a long, courageous battle with prostate cancer. Mr. Bass was born March 11, 1944 in Newberry. He moved back to Bell in 1998 to his ancestors homestead. Mr. Bass served the High Springs Police Department for 26 years retiring as Captain on July 4, 2007. He was a well-respected man and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arvey and Effie Bass of Bell, and a son Kenneth Simmons of Cedar Key. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Bass; daughter, Michelle Bass-Jansen (Tom), granddaughter Kenna of Alachua; son, Arvey Glenn Bass (Joi), granddaughter Emily of Gainesville; son, Arvey Quinn Bass of Gainesville; daughter-in-law, Leslie Lockwood, grandchildren Larissa and Kenny of Chiefland; and one sister, Minnie Lou Philman (Dale) of Lake City. Arvey loved to garden, fish and spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Arrangements are under the care of Evans-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, FL. Visitation will be Saturday, May 15 from 6-8 at Evans-Carter Chapel.
