Mary Hilda Bassett Parr
Born July 3, 1901 in Marshall County, W. VA., and died July 11, 1996 in Delray
Beach, FL. She was a resident of this area since 1964 coming here from
Jacksonville, FL. In her early years she worked as a nurse and later married.
She was honored by the U.S. Navy for her volunteer work in the Navy Relief and
was a member of the D.A.R. Mrs. Parr is survived by her husband of 67 years,
Dr. George W. Parr of Delray Beach, FL; her daughter, Cynthia P. Hopkins of
Boynton Beach, FL; three grandsons, John T. Hopkins of Winston-Salem, N.C.;
George P. Hopkins of Wellington and James P. Hopkins of Raleigh, N.C.; one
great grandson, Justin George Parr Hopkins; one brother, Alvin A. Bassett of
Graysville, OH; one sister, Luella Thomas, of Moundsville, W.VA. Funeral
services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 14, 1996 at Mizell-Faville-Zern
Town & Country Chapel, 3691 Seacrest Blvd., Lantana, FL with Rev. James W.
Atchison officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. to
Service time on Sunday.
