Ballard J. Bass
Erwin. ? Funeral services for Ballard J. Bass, 65, who died suddenly at his home near here Wednesday after suffering a stroke of paralysis, were conducted from the home of his son, Luther Bass, in Erwin, Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o?clock. Interment was in the Bass cemetery in Sampson county. Rev. G. Scott Turner, pastor of the Erwing Baptist church, conducted the services.
Mr. Bass was a son of Isaac and Rebecca Bass, of Sampson county. He had made his home in Harnett for many years. He had been a member of the Freewill Baptist church for nearly a half century.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura W. Bass; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lockamy and Mrs. Edith Tyndall, of Erwin, and one brother, Arlen M. Bass, of Sampson county, and the following children; Mrs. Marshall Bass, Dunn; Mrs. Enoch Darrow, Lillington; R.A. and Luther Bass, Erwin; Oscar and L.M. Bass, Roanoke Rapids. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
