James Allen Bassett, August 6, 2016 (Picture included)
James Allen Bassett, 58, of Pisgah Forest, passed away peacefully August 6, 2016 at his sister?s home, where she cared for him for the past two years.
James has lived in Transylvania County for the past ten years. He was born in Buncombe County on May 21, 1958 to the late Billy James Bassett and Ulean Martha Perry Bassett. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Carroll Bassett and sister, Ruby Jean Moore. He was also preceded in death by his beloved dog, Missy.
James has worked at the Asheville Paper Plant and as a painter. He also had a career moving mobile homes, which he loved, along with the people he worked with. James enjoyed camping and fishing and NASCAR. His favorite driver was Tony Stewart. He volunteered at the Sharing House in Brevard for seven years. He was a good hearted person who was very likeable and would give you the shirt off his back.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister Billy Bassett (Robbie Corn) of Pisgah Forest; nieces, Christina Burchette and Virginia Todd both of Columbia, SC; nephews Jackie Bassett of Enka/Candler, Chad Bassett of Enka/Candler and Phillip Hollemen of Columbia, SC; 9 great nephews and 2 great nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday August 13, 2016 at 2pm at Rosman Church of God. Rev. Michael Pressley will officiate. Sandra Shepherd and Shirley Owen will sing.
James will be missed very much by his sister and all of his family and friends.
