September 24, 2022 Marble Mr. Charlie Dickens Bass, Jr., age 65, of Marble, passed away Saturday evening, September 24, 2022, at the North East Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born in Tarboro, NC August 20, 1942, the son of the late Charlie Dickens Bass, Sr., and Lillie Dean Gaylord Bass. He was raised in Greenville, NC, and had lived in Cherokee County for the past forty years. Charlie had retired from Wal-Mart after 22 years of service. He had a Green Thumb and raised beautiful flower gardens; he was proud of his ministry as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. His favorite pastime after retirement was spending time walking. The last eighteen months of his life were spent at the Hayesville House. Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven Katherine West Bass, son, Charlie Dickens Bass III. A memorial service will be held at The Kingdom Hall in Marble sometime in October.
