- Frank and Cora lived near Toledo, Iowa on a farm, then moved to Vinton, Benton
County, Iowa about 1935.
When Frank's brother Walter died, he left his blacksmith shop to Frank
who had been a farmer until the depression during the 1930's.

67th Wedding Anniversary, 1969
Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Bassett, long time Vinton residents, moved Monday to
the Western Home, 420 E. 11th, Cedar Falls. They will observe their 67th
wedding anniversary Wednesday and would enjoy hearing from their friend
Frank C. Bassett and Cora B. Ames were married March 26, 1902 at the Christian
Church parsonage in Vinton. They farmed many years in Benton and Tama counties
and before his retirement, Mr. Bassett owned the Vinton Blacksmith Shop. He is
86 and Mrs. Bassett is 88. They are the parents of two children, Leland of
Longmount, Colo. and Mrs. Roy (Erma) Lassen of Cedar Rapids. They have four
grandchildren, Roger Bassett of Colorado, Mrs. Shirley Barnhart of California,
Robert Lassen of Garrison and Mrs. Glenn Wyckoff of Cedar Falls, and 14 great
grandchildren.
