      A.H. Bassett Dies, Long Peace Justice

      Leonardsville – Albert H. Bassett, 92, died Oct. 2, 1945, in the Curry
      Home in Burlington Flats, where he had been a patient for one and one-half
      years.
      Mr. Bassett was born Feb. 5, 1842, in Burlington Flats, son of Henry
      and Catherine Parks Bassett. In 1892, he married Gina? Dyer. For over 50 years
      he had resided in this village. He was a painter by trade. After the death of
      his wife 15 years ago, he was cared for by his niece, Mildred Sutherland, who
      died in March, 1944.
      He was a charter member of the Mt. Marcum chapter, IOOF, Unadil
      Forks. For over 25 years he was peace justice. As long as health permitted, he
      was an attendant of the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
      Surviving are two nieces, Miss Robie Bassett, Rome, and Mrs. Pearl
      Johnson, Oakland, Calif.; a grandniece, Mrs. Blanch Mathewson, Cooperstown;
      two cousins, Claude Mason and Mrs. Avis Schrag, both of Leonardsvill
      The funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow from the Worden Funeral Home,
      with the Rev. Emmett Bottoms, pastor of the Seventh Day Baptist Church,
      officiating. Burial will be in the Leonardsville Cemetery.
