Mrs. M.B. Bassett Dies At Hospital
Resident of Rome for 41 Years Expires After Long Illness
Mrs. Mattie Brand Bassett, 79, widow of Orrin Delos Bassett, died this morning at a local hospital after a long illness. She resided at 302 W. Liberty St.
Born in Leonardsville, March 29, 1855, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Brand. Mrs. Bassett lived in Rome for the past 41 years. She was married to Orrin Bassett in Edmeston, October, 1873. Mr. Bassett died January 4, 1919.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Robie Bassett, at home, and Mrs. Bert J. Johnson, Oakland, Calif.; a brothers, Eugene Brand, Utica; a half-sister, Mrs. Bennett Wheelock, Ilion; a half-brother, James H. Brand Jr., Pacific Grove, Calif.; two grandchildren, Brand T. Johnson, Willits, Calif.; and Howard L. Johnson, Oakland, Calif.
Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Skillin Relief Corps 13.
