Major Paul Harold Bass
Age 71 of Nashville. Passed away May 30, 2011. Mr. Bass was born August 6, 1939 in Waverly, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Ethleen Bass. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Peggy Maynard Bass; daughter, Kim Anderson; son, Michael W. Bass; loving and caring step-daughter, Kim Webb (Randy); grandchildren, Rodney Lee Bass (Chelsea), Jonathan Bass, and Kory Anderson; great-grandchildren, Sloan and Shelby Bass; sister, Patsy Brown (Jim). He was a member of Eleventh Street Church of Christ and a graduate of East High School, class of 1958, where he played football and was co-captain of the track team. He coached Jess Neeley Little League Football for 10 years. He retired as a Major with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department with 31 years of service. He was President of Bass and Russell Security for 7 years and Chief of Security for the Auto Diesel College for 10 years until he retired in 2004. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Andrew Jackson Lodge #5 and a member of the Jere Baxter and Edgefield Lodge #254, where he was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of Al Menah Shrine Temple and a member of the Provost Guard, where he served as captain in 1984. Visitation at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home Wednesday and Thursday from 12-8 p.m. Masonic service Thursday at 7 p.m. Funeral service Friday at 1 p.m. Interment at Spring Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers: best friend, Walter Keeler, Sr., Chief Joe Casey, Mack Smith, Bobby Russell, Billy Goad, Fermo Depasquo, Steve Murff, and Buck Gentry. Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Al Menah Provost Guard, the staff of the Auto Diesel College, and Jere Baxter Edgefield Lodge #254.
