Oliver “Jack” Devoid

OLIVER "JACK" DEVOID - Burlington - Jack Devoid, 83, went to the Lord after a long and courageous battle, on Friday, March 9, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Burlington on August 9, 1928, the son of Oliver A. and Ethel Janet (Bessett) Devoid. He served honorably with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was employed with Lane Press, retiring after 32 years of service. After retirement, he was still active, working as the Harbor Master for the King Street Dock and at Leddy Arena. His passions were boxing, boating, building, and restoring old items to new condition. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Priscilla "Pat" (Dufresne); two boys, Mark and Jeff; daughter, Susan and husband, Chris Norful; grandchildren, Raina, Kristie and husband, Dan Montani, Jermiah, Jennifer, Zachary, and Isaac; brother, Kenneth Devoid and wife, Sandra, of Burlington; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Along with his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother, Gary. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, 97 Elmwood Ave. A Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, North Avenue, with interment following in Resurrection Park, South Burlington.
