Sharon Bassett

Sharon Bassett was a woman of intellect, wisdom, wit and compassion.
She had a passion for learning that permeated her life. From her BA from Elmira College to a PhD from the University of Rochester to a year at the London School of Economics. She began her university English teaching career at CSULA in 1967 and retired after 37 years of engaging students with literature and critical thinking.
Before her university retirement, Sharon began the study of psychoanalysis. She earned her second PhD from the New Center for Psychoanalysis and began a 22-year career as an analyst bringing experience and a deep understanding to help others gain the self-awareness and to live more fully.
Sharon shared her gifts with a close circle of friends, her students and clients. A generosity freely given.
She is survived by her partner Patricia Giermann, her many dear friends, her brother Bill, her nieces (Kelly and Kris) and her nephew (Michael).
