Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Bass, a life long resident of Cochran, was the son of the late W.J. and Era Abney Bass. He was a US Army Veteran of Korea and received the Purple Heart. He was a retired truck driver, farmer and worked at Big B BBQ. He loved to fish and was an avid dirt track race fan. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Betty Ruth Bass of Cochran; children, James M. (Glenda) Bass, Jr., Earl (Debra) Bass and Donald Ray (Pam) Bass of Cochran, Teresa Bass (Terrell) of Hawkinsville; grandchildren, Heath Bass, Heather Nowell, Kristen Sims, Christopher Bass, Michelle Dowdy, Christopher Ryals, Dalton Wammock and Jasey Roberts; five great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; brother, Obie (Evelyn) Bass of Cochran. The family is at 148 Alvin Purser Road and will greet friends from 7 until 9 P.M. Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
