- Alice began the study of piano at St. Vincents' Academy for girls, Walla Walla,
Washington. She later continued with Robert L. Schofield, of the Whitman
College Conservatory of Music, appearing there in advanced pupils recitals at
the age of fifteen. Early developing a voice of natural sweetness, she entered
the New England Conservatory of Music at Boston, Massachusetts, and whi
there, specialized in voice work. See below for notes.

Miss Alice Bassett graduated from the New England Conservato
Music, receiving her diploma at the commencement exercises held in Jordan Hall
of the Conservatory building. Miss Bassett has had a very successful career at
America's oldest and largest conservatory. She is a pupil of Charles White,
of the Conservatory faculty and has a soprano voice of beautiful quality. A
characterization under her picture in the 1915 class book says, "A learned
spirit of human dealings of an excellent and unmatched judgement".
