Marise E. Brink
Marise Brink passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Marise was born in 1928 in Fort Valley Georgia to Ralphiel and Henriette Bassett. She and her four sisters Marguerite, Beulah, Simone, and Patsy had a fairy tale childhood growing up on their family farm Pineola. She attended Georgia State College for Women, graduating in 1949 and going on to teach elementary school for eleven years in several locations. She was teaching at Fort Knox in Kentucky when she first met the love of her life Army Lieutenant Ken Brink. Marise and Ken were married at Fort Knox in 1956. They first settled in West Lafayette, Indiana where Ken completed his doctorate degree at Purdue. Both of their children, Deborah and Kenneth Jr. were born in West Lafayette where they lived until 1968 when Ken was offered a job at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Marise loved time spent with friends and family in Fort Collins. She passed on her love of music, education, and trying new things to her children and spent many years driving them to a variety of enriching activities. She was active in the CSU Women?s Association and a devoted member of the First Presbyterian and Timberline Churches. Marise had many lifelong friends and often told people that a friend is a gift you give yourself. She especially enjoyed family time spent with her grandchildren Alex and Carson, and great grandchild Lyla. Marise is preceded in death by her parents Ralphiel and Henriette Bassett, her sisters Marguerite Harrison, Beulah Fricke, and Simone Robbins, and her husband Ken. She is survived by her sister Patsy Hilliard, her daughter Deborah Brink (husband Ken Thompson), her son Kenneth Brink Jr. (wife Lynette), grandsons Alex Brink (wife Peyton) and Carson Brink, great-granddaughter Lyla Brink, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins, CO from 2-4PM on Saturday February 25th. Light refreshments will be served and all friends and family are welcome.
