Jean Ann Bassett, 89, of Fargo (Picture included)
Jean Bassett, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Farmington Hills, Mich.
Jean Ann Baker was born to Roy A. Baker and Inez (Engel) Baker on May 5, 1922, in Fergus Falls. She grew up and attended schools in Fergus Falls.
Jean married Leroy A. Bassett on Sept. 18, 1946. They lived in Fargo after they were married. Jean graduated from the St. John’s School of Nursing at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo.
She worked as in the emergency room as a Registered Nurse at St. John’s, as nursing supervisor, and as head nurse on the Orthopedic Wing.
Jean was a long time member of Nativity church in Fargo and active in the Nativity choir.
She loved to read, enjoyed travel, lake activities, bowling, church activities and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Tom ( Colleen) Bassett, Southfield, Mich., daughter, Laurie (Jerry) Kadrie, Phoenix, Ariz., daughter Barbara Bassett, St. Paul; grandchildren, Brannon (Tara) Kadrie, Fargo, John (Liz) Bassett, Chevy Chase, Md., Brian (Erika) Bassett, Birmingham, Mich., Charles Bassett, Southfield, Mich., and Anne (Kadrie) Gonzales, San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren, Zachary and William Bassett, Ella and Jack and Benjamin Bassett and Andrew James Gonzales; a brother, Bob (Vonnie) Baker of Fergus Falls; a sister, Mary Jo Kilde of Battle Lake; nephews, Rick (Annette) Baker, Fergus Falls, David Kilde, Rochester, Donn Baker, Fergus Falls, and Mike (Kathy) Baker, St. Michael; nieces, Judy Kilde, Rochester, Tracy (Randy) Gullickson, Butler, Pa., and Sue Kilde, Fergus Falls; and a cousin, Charles (Diane) Engel, Kent, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Bassett; parents, Roy and Inez Baker; and sisters, Kathryn Baker and Helen Lund.
Visitation: Friday 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, at Nativity Catholic Church
Burial: Holy Cross North Cemetery
