Ted Lacey (Includes two pictures)
LACEY, Ted O. - Of Byron, age 85, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Hank Messing officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of Byron VFW Post #5822 Honor Guard. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. Mr. Lacey was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on June 11, 1926, son of the late Clyde Sr. and Mayme (Bassett) Lacey and was a resident of Burton before moving to Byron. On January 31, 1947 he married Ruth L. Craig. He proudly served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II as a Pharmacist's Mate Third Class. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Navy Sea Cadets, Byron Masonic Temple, Byron VFW. Mr. Lacey was employed by GM at Buick Motor Division for 34 years, retiring in 1979 and was a member of UAW Local #599. Surviving are wife, Ruth; daughter, Jeanene and husband, E. Dean Bird; four sons, Dennis (Irene), Bryan and wife, Cheryl, Bradley and fiancee', Bobbie Lawrence and Glen; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Darlene and Colleen; great-grandson, Eric Bird. A special thank you to the staff at Genesys Hospice Care Center for all their care and support.
