      Cornelius Pratt Long was born in Decatur county, Indiana, on January 9, 1847,
      departed this life March 7, 1905, making him at the time of his death 57 years
      and almost two months old. He was the oldest son of Woodson and Ann Long. He
      moved to Benton county with his parents in the fall of 1856 and has lived here
      continuously since. He has lived on his late farm 22 years the 8th of March.

      He was united in marriage to Mrs. Delia Sammons on the 24th of may, 1874, and
      to this union two children were born, Frank Long, of Missoula, Montana, and
      Ruth Bunten of Benton county. He united with the church of Christ at Prairie
      Creek in the fall of 1894. He leaves to mourn their loss, an aged father, one
      sister and four brothers, a wife, one son and one daughter, two step children,
      Mrs. Bassett and Henry Sammons, and five grandchildren.

      Funeral at Bear Creek church, Wednesday, March 8, conducted by Rev. J.T.
      Nichols.

      Mrs. Delia Long dies at Home of Vinton Daughter

      The death of Mrs. Delia A. Long, 85 years old, early settler of Benton county,
      occurred Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.J.
      Bassett of Vinton. She had been bedfast six months as the result of a
      fractured hip. Funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the
      Bassett home. Burial in Bear Creek cemetery.

      Mrs. Long was born Dec. 6, 1943, at Greensburg, Ind., a daughter of Michael
      and Anna Snell. She came to Iowa in 1861 and lived for many years in the
      Prairie Creek community. She was married in 1865 to Nathanial Sammons in 1865,
      who died in 1873. Two children were born to this union. Some years later she
      was married to C. P. Long, whose death occurred in 1905.

      The children are Mrs. W.J. Bassett of Vinton, J.H. Sammons of Gleichen,
      Alberta, Can., and Mrs. C.A. Bunten of Rush City, Minn. The mother's death
      followed only sixteen days after the passing of her youngest son, Frank Long
      of Missoula, Mont. There are thirteen grandchildren and five great-
      grandchildren.

      For twenty-three years Mrs. Long lived with her son Frank at Missoula, Mont.,
      and raised her grandson, Chester long. The last five years she cared for her
      son, who was paralyzed nine years ago and helpless five years.

      The grandson, Chester Long of Missoula, Mont., and the daughter, Mrs. C.A.
      Bunten of Rush City, Minn. will attend the funeral.
