Loretta M. Cinq Mars Weds Rene Bessette
Ceremony at Notre Dame Church Followed by Reception to 100
Easthampton, Nov. 7 – Miss Loretta M. Cinq Mars, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cinq Mars of 8 Hampton terrace, became the bride of Rene Bessette of 20 Parsons street, at Notre church this morning at 8. They were attended by Miss Pearl Bessette and Leonide Cinq Mars, and the veil bearer was Dorothy Peterson of Windsor, Ct.
The bride, who is a member of the Children of Mary, was escorted to the altar of the Blessed Virgin by Miss Florence Marchand and Miss Marie Ann Jean. Rev. Aime DuBois performed the ceremony. The full choir, of which the bride is a member, sang Emerson’s mass. George and Arthur Laprade sang “Ave Maria” at the offertory. “In Te Spearavi” was sung by the quartet, George and Arthur Laprade, Mrs. Alma Leville and Miss Delia Routhier.
The bride was gowned in white satin with tulle veil fashioned cap shape. She carried a shower bouquet of bride roses and gardenias. Miss Bessette wore yellow satin with brown turban and carried tea roses. The veil bearer wore pink taffeta and pink bonnet.
A wedding breakfast and reception to 100 guests was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Guests were present from Winooski, Vt., Windsor and Hartford, Ct., Northampton and Easthampton.
Mr. and Mrs. Bessette left for a motor trip to Vermont and Canada, the bride wearing a brown suit with accessories to match. Upon their return they will live at 8 Hampton terrace.
The bride was born in Winooski, Vt., and has been a resident of this town 17 years. The groom was born in this town and is a clerk at the Donars & Laprade grocery store.

Loretta M. Bessette
EASTHAMPTON – Loretta M. (Seymour) Bessette, 74, of 18 Prospect St., a retired employee of the Hampshire Manor Nursing Home, died yesterday in the Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton. She retired in 1982 and previously had worked at the United States Elastic Corp. and the former Hampton Mills here. Born in Winooski, Vt., she lived in this town most of her life and attended the Notre Dame parochial schools here. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of its choir and St. Ann’s Society. She died volunteer work at Hampshire County Hospital and for the town’s meals on wheels program for the elderly. She leaves her husband, Rene J. Bessette, three daughters, Lucille Lepine and Jeannine Miller, both of Easthampton, and Clair Kilmel of Westfield; a brother, Leonard Seymour of Easthampton; a sister, Isabelle Peterson of Grafton, and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday morning at Mitchell Funeral Home and in the church with burial in Brookside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hampshire County Hospital, River Road, Leeds.
