      Jordan R. Bassett, prominent attorney, dies here
      Jordan R. Bassett, 81, of Goodsell Place, who served as attorney for the Village of Highland Falls for several years, died suddenly here on Saturday.
      Bassett, who practiced law in New York City, Suffern and Highland Falls, was the former litigation attorney for New York Telephone Company. Past president of the new Brooklyn-Manhattan Trial Counsels Association, he belonged to the American, New York State and Rockland and Orange Counties' Bar Associations.
      A past chairman of the Suffern Zoning Board of Appeals, he was formerly director of Staten Island National Bank. He belonged to the Downtown Athletic Club and the Touchdown Club, both in New York City. He also belonged to the O'Connor-Doyle American Legion Post and the Lions Club in Highland Falls. He was also a member of the Association of Graduates of the U.S. Military Academy.
      Survivors include his wife, Josephine Goodsell Bassett at home; three daughters, Jeanne Tompkins of Suffern, Carol Plummer of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Geraldine Bell of Clarkston, Ga.; two sons, Paul R. of Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Roger M. of Monsey; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
      Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the William F. Hogan Funeral Home. The Rev. Christian Wolf officiated.
      Burial was in Peacedale Cemetery.
