  Notes	Pittsburgh Post-Gazette March 30, 2009 James G. Bassett Jr. James G. Bassett Jr., 91, of Export, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at home. He was born October 25, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a son of the late Mary Knox and James G. Bassett, Sr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Claire McLane Bassett; a son, James G. Bassett III, and brother, Alexander Knox Bassett. James was active with the Murrysville Export Rotary since 1949 where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Prior to retirement he worked for US Steel as a Metallurgical Engineer. He was a member of The Pittsburgh City Farmers and association of Iron and Steel technology, and other metallurgical related associations. He taught Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh and was a lifetime member of the Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church. He is survived by four daughters, Lane (Bob) Neff, Louise (Bill) Weir, Allison Bassett-Carmichael and Ruth (Bob) Wepfer, all of Murrysville; a son, Stuart (Julie) Bassett of Colliersville, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Alvira Hart Bassett. Friends will be received at the Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville, Tuesday, March 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held Thursday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at the Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church with Reverend Marie Silbert officiating. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Cemtery, Export.
