Joyce Bass
HOLDEN, W.Va. ? Mrs. Joyce Levemer Bass, 78, of Holden, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 18, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington.
Born October 15, 1932, in Holden, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Luella Lynard Donaldson. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Eddie Bass Sr; one son, Walter; two brothers, Jack Donaldson Jr. and Charles Edward Donaldson; three stepbrothers, Rudolph Stevenson, Grady Stevenson and Ira Stevenson, and one sister, Anniebelle Moton.
Mrs. Bass was a homemaker and her favorite pastimes were baking and singing. She was a member of the former Women's Homemaker Club. She graduated from the former Aracoma High School. She was a member of Bethel AME Church of Holden where she participated in the activities of the Willing Workers Club.
Those whom she leaves to cherish her memory include four sons: Jesse (Lanei) Bass of Pontiac, Mich., and Harry (Martha Ann) Bass, Eddie Jr., and Kenneth Bass, all of Holden; six daughters, Dorothy (Allen) Forest of Lima, Ohio, Sandra (Jeff) Moss, Kim and Katherine Bass, all of Charleston, and Jacqueline (Johnny) Richardson and Melissa Bass, both of Tamarac, Fla.; one sister, Barbara Jean Ogletree of Detroit, Mich.; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 27, at the Bethel AME Church with Rev. Gerald Dotson and Rev. Constance Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and flower bearers will be her granddaughters.
Visitation will begin at noon Monday at the church.
Pond Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of the arrangements.
