John Bass
John Bass, 83, of 2914 Sixteenth street, Moline, died at 7 this morning in Moline Public hospital.
Mr. Bass was born Aug. 13, 1865, in Allen Springs, Ill. (now Dixon Springs). He married May Wheeler in Dixon Springs; she died 36 years ago. Mr. Bass served as a corporal in the army during the Spanish-American war and was a member of the United Spanish War Veterans in Moline. He came to Moline seven years ago from Metropolis, Ill, to make his home with a son, Eulis Bass.
Surviving are two sons, Eulis of Moline and Hillis of Metropolis; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Holm of Moline; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Wednesday afternoon in Wendt Brothers? funeral home, Moline, the Rev. Oliver K. Black of First Congregrational church officiating. Colonel Kittilsen camp 27, United Spanish War Veterans, will conduct services. Burial will be in national cemetery on arsenal island.
