They were married on August 19, 1961, at St. Luke?s Methodist Church in Kilgore, Texas. Ralph has been retired from the oil field business for several years, and Beth is a longtime educator and is employed with Longview ISD as the director of instruction. The Bassetts were feted with dinner and dancing at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts surrounded by friends and family. The event was hosted by their daughter, Elizabeth Bassett, of Austin; and their son, Chuck Bassett, along with his wife, Vanessa and children, Remington Elizabeth, Sterling Hunt and Rylan Connally Bassett of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
