Wanda Faye Helleson Bass
Memorial services for Wanda Faye Helleson Bass, 89, of Gilmer, are scheduled for 12:00 pm, Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Little Mound Baptist Church with Brother Michael Phillips officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home.
Wanda was born May 18, 1933, in Dallas, Texas to Joe and Margie Hargrove Helleson, and passed into Glory, on September 19, 2022.
Wanda married Billy Bass, on August 25, 1952. She was the office manager at Mueller Brass Company for 30 years before her retirement. She was involved with 4-H, Extension Homemakers, and Crimestoppers. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, reading, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and crossword puzzles. Wanda had a love for all people, and she often referred to many as her "Doll", "Sweet Pea", "Sugar", and "Granny's Doll". Her profound love for animals was known by Upshur County. They knew she could never turn away an animal found in her yard. She was a member of Little Mound Baptist Church and enjoyed all church activities.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Joe Bass; daughter, Sandy Hunter; sister-in-law, Carol Helleson; special friend, Cyndy Nesbit; 4 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Margie Helleson; granddaughter, Danna Bass; and her brother, George Helleson.
